Brian and I went on vacation from July 17th to July28th. We had such a wonderful time together. Some couples say they would get tired of each other by that point but we loved it. I know I don't need to say it on here but he truly is my soulmate and my best friend. We had dreamed of this vacation for so long and it was great when the time finally came. First we left Saturday, July 17th after Brian got out of a training for work. By the tiime we got on the road it was about 3pm. We took Brian's MazdaSpeed3 because my Altima was making all sorts of noises and didnt' particularly want to be broken down in the desert. This meant Brian would have to do all the driving for the trip because it is a standard and I don't drive standards. (I know I should but I don't like them!) That first night we drove about 9 hours to Fort Stockton, TX. It is a town in the middle of nowhere so it seems a lot of people use it as a stopping point. We had packed tons of snacks and an ice chest with bottled water and our favorite deli meat and cheese. We ate our sandwiches for dinner and got ready for the next day.
Sunday morning we headed out towards Carlsbad, NM to go to Carlsbad Caverns. Brian and I had both been as children with our famililes but we were looking forward to seeing the cave together. As Brian was driving, he kept seeing tarantulas on the road. I kept missing them but I think I saw one. Of course, it could have been a piece of tire shreds because Brian didn't see that one. We spend hours at the caves and had a lot of fun walking together. Below are a few pics from that day. After we left the caverns we got lunch at Chilis in Carlsbad and headed to Albuquerque to spend the night. More vacation postings soon!
